Research Memo 2

Research Question:  How much rape actually happens and what is going to prevent it from further happening?
While I was reaching I came across an article that appealed to me I thought it would cover my research question that I has in mind, but as I read it I found that it didn’t cover what exactly I had in mind. While I read the story I changed my question too how much rape actually happens and what is going to prevent it from further happening?
In my first article it stated that approximately 1.69 to 1.80 million women reported having been raped in their lifetime, and approximately 3.07 to 3.37 million women reported experiencing intimate partner sexual violence. And it went even further to answer my question by say that future policies and programs should focus on abuse within families and eliminate the acceptance of and impunity surrounding sexual violence nationwide while also maintaining and enhancing efforts to stop militias from perpetrating rape.  There were many different aspects of this article that says this; it just shows the evidence to which they found it.  For example, they did a chart/table providing information on the estimates of sexual violence in women. Then they went into detail on how that data helped then.

Who is more affected the Rapist or the Rape victim?

Hypothesis: Rape always affects someone, whether it's the person getting raped, someone who hears it or someone who witnesses it. If people would talk about their emotions and the things that happen to them, maybe the percentage of rape would drop? I believe that if you want help then you will be helped. I am hoping soon our world will not reek with such vile and repulsive actions. So if precautions were taken i believe rape could be prevented?

Context: The audience I chose to prevail toward's teens that have been sexually assaulted. I chose this group because I found it interesting that people shaped their life from what happened to them at a young age. I wanted the middle time, between what they're going to become and what they already were. The Changing cycle of there life: where they cope with the after affects.

Data Analysis:
The results above say that Males and females think alike when it comes to opinionated question and think a tad bit differently when it comes to ethical questions. Rape can be looked at by many perspectives and can be taken and handled differently by different people. The overall fact is that no matter who is taking the survey everyone knows that rape is wrong, and no one deserves to be cruelly violated in such an impersonal way.
Finding one:

When I asked why rapists commit rape? The responses I gave them to choose from where they were raped as a child, they were psychopaths, and that they could have been a sadist. The majority of my surveyors chose psychopaths, and the rapist being raped as a child. It seems if people happen to recognize that they are psychopaths, they would be under supervision ,or at least in a mental ward, to prevent harm to others. Rape can be prevented if people were to take precautions. The same suggestion goes out to a rapist that was raped as a child if you were raped as a child and realized you were have thought or dreams anything that implies that you want to rape people, know that it is wrong, you should seek help from a professional. Everything happens for a reason, and if people keep doing what they are doing the pattern of rape will never go away, but if people begin to take evasive action, then the pattern of rape will soon cease to exist.
Finding Two:

In life when you go through a time in your life when nothing is good, you are in a rut and you have tried everything possible to get escape, there is something or someone holding you back from moving forward. In this case, this person is a rapist, and what he/she is holding over you is your strength and your life. Even if you do not ever see this person, again in your life they still have a hold on you. Furthermore, the most reliable way to do so is to forgive them for violating you, and then become at peace with it, make what happened to you a good thing. I asked my audience a question like this and I was immensely glad to see that the majority from both male a females they chose this answer. It shows that even though it may be hard to do people are willing to get past a terrible mishap.
Conclusion:
When I asked my audience about trying to see if we looked it in a mental illness that can be helped, maybe even treated could the percentage of rape in the United States. drop? The results were approximately, half-and-half, half said no and half said yes. I do not know the reasoning behind theses answers but if the people who said yes were thing in the same mindset that I had then there reasoning is exactly what I stated in my second finding. I did not make this survey with an already set in my head a way of how I thought people would answer the questions; I just was hoping that my questions were not outrageous, or belligerent. I am proud to say that I do not feel that I went way past anyone boundaries for my survey.
Follow up:
For my second research memo, I want to go into depth of how the psyche works, after something traumatizing happens. I do not believe I have changed my research question, because although it was specific it still leaves room to come in from a variety of directions.

What am I Researching?

My research topic is extremely serious and sensitive to many people. I thought of a few questions that would give you some insight of what my topic is going to be about. Them being: which type of rape leaves a more psychological impact? How does being a rape victim eventually lead to becoming a rapist or other type of criminal? Why is it when people who go through a tough time such as rape (Which is an act that usually is seen upon the weak and meek.) they usually end up stronger later on? What happens to a person's mental state from before the rape and after the rape? Is there a deference between the before and after. So as I look up these questions I am trying my very best to not go over board and end up causing people to get med. My work is not Biased it is completely based off experiments, test and studies done on rape victims, and rapist.

Story Behind my Topic

Lisa had been an young lively girl she was always happy and singing until one day, the same day that still haunts her dreams, to this day. It was September, and school had just begun. Lisa lived alone with her mother, but it seems like her moms’ boyfriend was there enough to say he lived there too. Lisa never liked he moms boyfriend, being around him made her fell suddenly sad and uncomfortable. She did not know if it was because of his dating her mom, or because she wasn’t used to have a male presences in her home so often. Lisa always wondered why, and she finally got her answer, on September 15th 2002, her mother was working late and Stevie came over, her moms boyfriend, she still remembers that chilling feeling she got as his hands touched her shoulder and turned her head towards him. Her skin felt as if it was crawling off of her. His eyes, they were piercing threw her soul. He caught her eyes and held them with his. She wanted to cry at the way his icy clue eyes, lusted after her, she wanted to run and hide, to never see his face again.... He pulled his pants up and smiled at her, she remembered those words 'you'll get used to it' those words replay in her head repeatedly, his cold eyes sending chills down my spine. She will never forget that day, or the day after that, or the day after that. If she had not told her best friend about this ongoing problem who knows what could have happened her. Lisa walks around today paranoid looking over her shoulder, not trusting anyone, she will not even visit her mother. She has to go to therapy every day, to help cope with her nightmares. Her mother never even knew, and now she's lost her child mentally to a man she barley even knew. rape is not anything to joke about, it’s not anything to just brush off your shoulder. Rape is all around you, you may not be able to see it but it is definitely there. The effects are long lasting, and who's to blame? Why don’t people try to figure out why rape occurs? I want to know why, don't you?
